1. Hi Susan-

My name is Angela. I live in AK, and am researching maxillofacial surgeons. I am saving up my money to begin the process in a year. I’ve been looking for maxillofacial surgeons for the past 4 months, and am willing to fly to CA, OR, or WA to have it done.

I actually just found your blog site today, from someone I met on an orthognothic forum. She really enjoyed your blog and recommended it to me. I don’t actaully know of anyone who has had jaw surgery, and I’ve asked SO many people in hopes of finding a lead, but haven’t had any luck. So, I count the internet as a valuable resource tool in finding surgeons to research.

Do you mind sharing who did your surgery? I will add that name to my list for the search! I understand that most of the time, people have insurance that will cover part of the cost of jaw surgery, but I’m not counting on it and have already taken some financial steps to be able to begin saving money to cover it on my own. I only mention this to say that it doesn’t matter to me if a surgeon is covered by my insurance or not.

Thanks for your blog. I am looking foward to reading it! Thanks, too, for your time.

    Hi Angela!

My *amazing* surgeon was Dr. Kasey Li:

I believe he is always “out of network” for every insurance type, but you can check anyway — and yes, it’s definitely worth it to do your research well 🙂

I’m so glad you found this site useful! I am getting back involved with it, as I’m finding there are TONS of comments and questions that are waiting for me on the blog… keep checking back for updates!
