What procedure(s)?

Maxillary Osteotomy. My jaw surgery consisted of surgically breaking my upper jaw, above the roots of my top teeth and behind the nostrils, and advancing the entire jaw forward 3 mm. The new jaw position is held in place by titanium plates and screws - all magically undetectable, but I have yet to go through an airport security checkpoint - which are typically NOT removed as this would require a 2nd surgery.

Nasal surgery. My surgeon also corrected my deviated septum through the roof of my mouth (I guess this happened when my upper jaw was disconnected from the rest of my skull or some such craziness), which should help with my chronic congestion and allergies. In the short term of recovery, however, it actually means WAY more congestion because of the swelling within the nasal cavity! Other jaw surgery candidates may not experience this congestion.
